CATHERINE JAMISON

RAW INTERVIEW
POEM

i wish i could see with my broken eyes

maybe then i could see through all the worlds lies

i wish i could be heard

maybe then your perception of me would no longer be blurred but instead all you see are the lies

aren’t we all tired of listening to the things that society shoves down our throats?

you have the right to say the things that need to be heard

the right to do the things that need to be done

to fight for what you believe is right,

we are not statues

i will not let the hand of society cover my mouth

i will not let the hand of society wrap around my neck and steal every breath from my lungs

i will not be silenced

i will break down the walls of silence around my broken heart break down the walls of insecurities built by all the people i try to please

break down the walls of hate that divide us time to tear off these chains, this burden, this weight theres no time to wait

But now i can see

oh 20/20

from this cage i am now free

but now i see we blame society

but we are society
