PLAY THE SYSTEM
Playing the system is a controversial middle ground between the conservative; stick to the rules and the anarchist; fuck society. It’s about recognising and manipulating the rules and systems in place in order to succeed and ultimately create a better society. While we shouldn’t continue protesting the institutions that continue to oppress people and push an agenda, direct conflict is an extremely ineffective way to create proper, stable change. But we also cannot sit silent and wait for others to release ourselves and others from suppressive systems. We must use our voices and the opportunities granted to us, and the ones we make ourselves, in order to produce a substantial difference.
To change the system you have to be in the system.

So what is the system?
The system involves all culture such as media, music, celebrities, and fashion, rules such as laws given by institutions, within art, music, scientific endeavours, and philosophy. faucets of society; the institutions such as government and politics, education, religion, and corporations.
While yes, these are set up only to serve themselves, ‘themselves’ are ultimately composed of people. there wouldn’t be these institutions and rules without a society. therefore in order to change things, we infiltrate the people with power within the systems or become them ourselves. We make systems that are transparent, easily accessible and understandable, we make systems that benefit everyone equally, we learn and break the rules and mould ourselves into a network of people who are able to adapt and learn and create systems that grow with us.
However you may say, fuck it, don’t conform, don’t ‘fit in’ and yet the boundary between a subculture and a prefigurative political movement can be blurry. Barry Melton said “it’s amazing and these two movements coexisted at the same time.” You can be a part of both.
