I started making art ever since I could pick up a pencil! But I really started taking it seriously when I hit 8th- 9th grade. The thing that inspired me the most to create art and do what I do now was watching Rage and catching Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz play in the early mornings when I was a kid, that and watching the Lion King non-stop, was the main motivation that made me say “I want to make stuff like that!” and now that’s what I’m aiming to do.

I love doing Digital art, usually to complete a piece of work it would generally take me around 2-3 hours if it’s just very small, but if we’re talking a big piece with a lot of ideation around it it would usually take me 6 to about a couple of days to finish it off and try to make it as perfect as possible!

Most of the inspiration I get for my art and the characters and ideas I create usually come from places I’ve been, people I’ve met and/or know or situations and events I’ve experienced. Stylistically I have to say Jamie Hewlett has possibly influenced me the most within my art, he’s the one responsible for the art behind both the Gorillaz and the graphic novel Tank Girl. Everything from the slightest quirk his drawings happen to make me feel that rush of inspiration and motivation to draw for so many reasons.

Other inspirations I do have are just things that I’ve loved that just happen to stick like old cartoons like The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy and Ren and Stimpy, Devilman from the 70’s, The Goofy Movie, Beetlejuice and just weird obscure cartoons nobody has ever heard of before like Clone High. I do also like researching on the fashion trends and cultural icons of the 50’s-90’s because it’s so diverse and interesting – One of my oc’s is heavily based off of David Bowie and Freddy Mercury!

I’m a big fan of Visual arts and Filmography, I do play around with more realistic visual art from time to time but when posting stuff online it’s usually not my main focus, but it is one thing I really love doing. The mediums I love playing around with the most are both oils and water colours. Filmography is kind of this art form I’ve grown to respect, not just from an animation stand point but also in the way any film is produced to fit a certain aesthetic, genre and audience. (I’m a big Tarantino and Baz Luhrmann fan)

I think the Art Scene of Perth is most likely one of Australia’s best!

From the city to the streets of Fremantle everywhere you look someone has created something so spectacular for everyone to see! Perth is so unique in the way it expresses its self through visual art and I think that’s what makes it so special: the fact that no piece of art is the same! (Also, The Perth music scene is really underrated!)

Perth is a sick place to be because it’s a chill place and has a lot of beautiful hidden gems (especially around Red Hill area), it’s also kind of like the only place I really know properly. The wildlife is gorgeous, the city is a great place to go hang out with good friends, a great place for inspiration and good vibes and Perth is just overall a great place.

Everyone develops since starting, but in my own experience, I have definitely seen myself develop a lot since I began drawing, both technically and stylistically.

My aim with my art is always to make my stuff stand out from all the rest that’s out there and I think that’s best created by taking inspiration from many different things and artists.

I’ve noticed especially in the last two years my own “art style” has kind of become it’s own thing that speaks for who I am and the things I love and am attracted to may It be in the way I use colours or draw certain things.

Art can sometimes be hard and sometimes as artists and creators we are harsh on our selves and over critical. A thing we should all take into consideration is the fact that you may have 70 bad drawings that you may look back at and want to trash and then you have 70 other good drawings that look as if though you are that bit closer to where you want to be as an artist!

It’s always best to pick yourself and keep going especially if it’s something you love doing!
